Baubre Murray started the business in 2001 with the idea of providing a different sort of accountant experience, one with a focus on three areas important to clients:
- Knowing how much the work was going to cost in advance
- Knowing when it would be done, and
- Getting a quick response to queries.
She recognised that business is only part of an individual’s personal happiness and that a "one size fits all" solution was never going to suit everyone.
Embracing the electronic age she created a virtual office, offering clients the opportunity to meet via phone, email, Skype or in person. Costs were kept to a minimum by operating the business from a home office allowing plenty of family time and engaging staff on contract who also wanted flexibility for their families. Clients have come from a range of businesses and investment.
Growth has been organic and an office opened in central Wellington in 2012 for those clients who like to meet in the central city. Five staff now work full time in the business, with contract staff available to help with extra work.
Fourteen years on, the initial focus continues, underpinned by quality advice and a holistic approach, because everyone deserves to be happy.
Baubre Murray - FCA
Baubre (pronounced Barbara) is a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. She has a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration (BCA) in accounting from Victoria University of Wellington, a Certificate of Public Practice from the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and is a registered tax agent. Baubre is the director of the firm and has more than 25 years experience as an accountant working in a variety of accounting and consulting roles for a wide range of clients. She specialises in structuring and tax work, and providing business advice to clients.
Baubre is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) Public Practice Advisory Group, and has recently retired as a member of the CA ANZ Council, as Vice President of Croquet NZ and as a Trustee of the Crohn's and Colitis NZ Charitable Trust. In her spare time Baubre likes to run, play croquet and tennis, ski, knit (mainly for Wellington Hospital's neo-natal unit) and complete Sudokus.
Susan Drew - CA
Sue is a Chartered Accountant with a BCA majoring in accountancy, a Certificate of Public Practice and more than 25 years' experience in the industry. She has worked with us for more than 10 years from her office in Nelson. When tired of the virtual office and needing company, great coffee and some culture she comes to Wellington. Having grown-up adult sons Sue has done her time as treasurer and volunteering for numerous organisations and is now enjoying herself either in the garden or out on her bike or with her dog Roxy.
Lucy Spencer - CA
Lucy is a Chartered Accountant with a BCA majoring in accounting and commercial law from Victoria University of Wellington, and is working towards gaining her Certificate of Public Practice. She joined us after spending the five years in the audit and risk management fields for Deloitte and ANZ. In her spare time Lucy enjoys playing netball, bike riding and travelling, and is also heavily involved in her partner’s mobile mechanical business.
Dina Zaia - CA
Dina is a Chartered Accountant with a BCA majoring in accounting and commercial law from Victoria University of Wellington. She joins us after spending 7 years in financial accounting and business advisory for Curtis McLean and Deloitte. Dina is originally from Iraq and has been in New Zealand for a long time. Dina enjoys learning new languages, travelling, playing tennis and spending time with family and friends.
Nicky Hanshaw - CA
Nicky is a Chartered Accountant with 25 years of experience, 17 of them in New Zealand and 8 in the UK, her original homeland. She joins us after relocating to Wellington from Waikato where she ran her own practice. Now that Nicky’s children have all recently left home she has started experimenting with biking around Wellington and enjoying weekend brunch in the suburbs in one of her classic cars.
Elanie Van Greuning - CA
Elanie is a Chartered Accountant with 19+ years experience, of which 4 years were in South Africa. She joins us from Munro Benge and her areas of expertise include financial reporting, taxation, business advisory and franchises. She is passionate about working with clients to improve their businesses and ensure their business meets their long term goals, both financially and in terms of work / life balance. When she is not helping clients Elanie likes to head to the hills to enjoy the outdoors.
Martin has a bachelor of science with honours in geology from Victoria University of Wellington and has worked in the computer industry for more than 25 years in a variety of technical, consultancy and project management roles. Since 2007 Martin has been the IT guy in the accounting practice specialising in Xero. When not in front of a screen Martin likes to ride motorbikes and mountain bikes.
